Internships at Brooklyn Nonviolent Communication

Brooklyn NVC is a center for Nonviolent Communication and constructive action working to create a world where all people's needs are peacefully met. We are seeking interns committed to nonviolent social change to assist with all aspects of our organization, including:

*Event planning, including fundraisers, workshops, courses, retreats, and community events.

*Public relations and outreach, including leafleting, phonebanking, and writing and designing flyers, press releases, newsletters, and program materials and descriptions.

*Administrative support, including responding to inquiries by email and phone, handling email and bulk mailings, data entry, basic bookkeeping, and assisting with course registration.

*Grant research, writing, and fundraising.

*Tech support, including designing and integrating new database systems and creating interactive infrastructure for emails, database, and website.

We are seeking interns willing and able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week for 10 weeks (for summer internships) or 9 hours a week for four months (throughout the year).

Those willing to make longer commitments (such as for the academic year) are especially encouraged to apply and can take on more in-depth projects.

Based on interests, experience and length of time interning, interns can focus on a particular aspect of the organization or project of Brooklyn NVC, such as Hungry Duck Press (producing books and other media items), the Empathy Project (bringing the practice of empathy to public places, such as parks and street fairs), or the Two by Two program (a year long program for social change organizations).

Interns can register for any non-residential Brooklyn NVC workshop or courses for free while interning. This includes weekly practice groups, foundation courses, and evening and daylong workshops.

To apply: Send a resume, with references, and a cover letter addressing:

1) why you wish to intern with Brooklyn NVC

2) how you imagine you will both benefit from and contribute to BNVC via your internship

3) the number of hours and weeks you are willing to commit and when you would like to begin.

Send application materials to: Dian Killian, Director, Brooklyn NVC, 421 Fifth Ave., 2nd Fl., Brooklyn, NY 11215 or email to info@BrooklynNVC.org
